Urgent need to prepare teachers for tomorrow’s schools

Teachers-in-training should be trained in how to work with AI, says Professor Richard Quest. He says: ‘For AI to make a real contribution to academic success, for all students, the teacher’s role remains as central as ever’.

The money-makers should not be allowed to decide our future without our say-so. The uses of AI must be carefully planned by the entire spectrum of education actors. All this aligns with Québec ‘s vision for its proposed international observatory on the societal impacts of artificial intelligence and digital technologies.

Many experts, including Yoshua Bengio at the Université de Montréal, worry about the risks of AI. From now on, we’ll have to live with AI, so isn’t it about time that we get our teachers ready for it?
