Age of Mobilism

Technology drives change. What is more interesting, of course, is the change in history’s direction that advances in technology bring about. China is currently undergoing a course-changing shift—from people living in rural settings to mass migrations into cities. The world is entering into the Age of Mobilism.

Technology drives change—globally. Calling this epoch the Post-PC Era does not give this Age of Mobilism its due. For starters, teachers need to be retrained; teachers teach the way they were taught and so “I Teach” will continue.

The 800-pound gorilla, testing, will need to be addressed. While testing companies prepare their materials for 17 inch screened, online computers, they are ignoring the fact that those types of computers are not readily available in K–12. Schools’ current IT infrastructure cannot scale up to massive, school-wide, online testing.

Use the mobile devices or ban them? Make no mistake, this situation will happen; nay, it is happening!
